A Clinical Study of the Children and Adolescents Inpatients Admitted to the Dajeon, Cheonan Korean Medical Hospital

Abstract
Objectives : This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of children and adolescent patients who received inpatient treatment at Korean medicine hospitals.

Methods : We analyzed 1901 chronicles of children and adolescents under the age of 19 years who were hospitalized in
Korean medicine hospitals from January 1, 2011 to July 31, 2022.

Results : The patients comprised more girls than boys, and the number of inpatients increased as the age increased.
Inpatients increased from 2013 to 2019 and decreased from 2020. The insurance types utilized were 1,371 automobile and 530 health insurances. Musculoskeletal diseases were the most common chief complaints and the department of Korean pediatrics was the most commonly used clinical department. The number of inpatients in the department of Korean pediatrics has decreased annually since 2020, while the proportion of automobile insurance has increased. The disease distribution in hospitalized patients in Korean medicine pediatrics was, in increasing order, musculoskeletal, mental, and nervous system diseases.

Conclusions : It is necessary to study the characteristics of inpatients, hospitalized diseases, and improve the hospitalization environment for children and adolescents.
